Pre-Publishing Services

 Professional Editing

We have one of the best editors in the indie world who offers super competitive rates that will be hard to beat.  No matter what level of editing you’re looking for, we can assist.  Not only has our editor worked as a freelance editor directly for a ton of indie authors, but also indie publishing houses with a list a mile long of references.

Editing is a review of your writing with a goal to produce the best possible telling of your story.   Our editor will be looking for spelling and grammar errors, confusing sentence structure, as well as such problems as POV slips, continuity issues, unbelievable or confusing actions, and also simply commenting on things that as a reader and seasoned editor, knows will not work well with readers.

Prices begin at $4.50 per 1,000 words.

Proofreading Service

Proofreading is a much simpler process, but don’t underestimate its importance in the pre-publishing process.   It is typically the last step before publication.  Some of the things a proofer looks for are, but are not limited to: punctuation used correctly and in the same place, inconsistencies in things like character names from one part of the book to the other, typos, missing words, words that are repeated, and more.  A proofreader does not go much more into those areas unless there are glaring issues that can’t help but be noticed and commented on.

Prices begin at $3.50 per 1,000 words.

As aforementioned, prices are based on a per word basis.  An individualized quote can be given by emailing us at TAB Author Services with the pertinent word count and service requested.  Although individual prices can be provided, package deals are also available.

  Professional Beta Reading

These services cover looking over material in an effort to make minor corrections like spelling, grammar; make suggestions to improve the story; help improve characters; as well as any other specific task requested by the author.  This is typically a pre-publication task, but can be done at any time.  A beta reader is important because they provide feedback on a completed work so it can be adjusted if need be before publication of any kind.  Their help can assist in problems related to the readability and saleability of your book.

Prices are based on a per/word grouping pricing system.  For instance, if your book is 65,000 words, you would fall into the 60,000-80,000 pricing braket.  Prices start at $25.  Please contact us directly at our email for a personalized quote or questions.  Competitive pricing is a definite! Although individual prices can be provided, package deals are also available to save you some money.

      eBook Formatting

The formatting of your book is becoming increasingly more important as people move to predominately eBooks.  Along with a well-designed cover, these two steps can directly affect the sales of your book.

We do formatting in both epub and mobi.  We also provide a pdf, as there are some places where they are required.  Although epub is the predominate file requested within the industry, Amazon requests mobi so we definitely can provide both.  The formatting can include a table of contents, chapter headings, and cover art.  We do both fiction and nonfiction (which can include charts, graphs, and such).

Our prices are highly competitive, and based on how many words your manuscript is comprised of. Prices begin at $20 and are dependent on the total amount of words, not per word.  Please contact us via email for a quote.
